Swimming Mobility Screenings
Swimming is an activity that all of us had to specifically learn. Unlike running, which we learn to do as an innate part of our physical development, swimming requires hours and often years to master correct technique, efficiency and proficiency in all four strokes.
Because it is not a “natural” or “in-built” movement pattern, most swimmers experience difficulty with injury, or an inability to improve performance. Not only is swimming is a highly repetitive activity, but regular and competitive swimmers are often exposed to high training loads leaving them at higher risk of injury. This is where a swimming screening can help.
Whether you are a competitive or recreational swimmer, a swimming mobility screening is a great way to identify any areas in your mobility that need improving. Our mobility screening is a series of quick range of motion and muscle length tests designed to quickly assess all the major joints and muscles involved in swimming, to determine whether they allow enough movement to correctly perform each swimming stroke.
The screen allows us to broadly identify any areas that may be contributing to difficulties or underperformance in training and competition, as well as causes for injury, especially recurrent injury. The results of your screen allow us to provide you with a report detailing your results and prescribe you mobility exercises specific to you that will help address these limitations.
If you are currently having issues with pain and injury, we recommend you book an initial consultation for an in-depth assessment and diagnosis of your symptoms.
If you are looking to book multiple swimming screenings for your club/team pool-side, please email nadine@thephysiobooth.com.au
